Dr. Patrick J. DeSouza
Chief Executive Officer, Board Chairman
Patrick DeSouza is Chief Executive Officer of The PlainSight Group and is responsible for its overall vision and commercialization strategy. Dr. DeSouza brings over 20 years of public and private company experience in the defense, internet and natural resource industries, having served in a variety of executive and leadership capacities. He is also Chairman of Water Intelligence plc, a publicly listed company on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.
Dr. DeSouza has significant U.S. and cross-border capital-raising and mergers & acquisitions experience. At PlainSight, Dr. DeSouza led its acquisitions of American Leak Detection, Qonnectis plc and MadMax Optics, as well as, the creation of venture spin-offs: Deep Markets, Owl Multimedia and Owl Energy. He is also responsible for Plain Sight’s partnership with Leeb Capital Management. In addition to his private sector experience, Dr. DeSouza served at the White House as Director for Inter-American Affairs on the National Security Council. He has been a visiting lecturer at the Yale Law School and is author of Economic Strategy and National Security. Dr. DeSouza is a graduate of Columbia College, Yale Law School and Stanford Graduate School.
Dr. Ronald Coifman
Chief Technology Officer, Board Member
Ronald Coifman is Chief Technology Officer and Board Member of The PlainSight Group and is responsible for the development of PlainSight's intellectual property portfolio and its application to various commercial opportunities. As one of the world's leading mathematicians, Dr. Coifman has over 35 years of experience in technology development and commercialization. His research focuses on nonlinear Fourier analysis, wavelet theory, numerical analysis and scattering theory. Dr. Coifman continues to create next-generation mathematical tools for efficient computation and transcriptions of complex digital data, with commercial applications to financial analysis and audio and imaging feature extraction.
Dr. Coifman is the Phillips Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Yale University. He was awarded the National Medal of Science by President Clinton and has been a member of DARPA's Advisory Board. Dr. Coifman received his doctorate from the University of Geneva.
Chief Investment Officer, Board Member
Eric Remole recently joined Plain Sight as Chief Investment Officer and Board Member. He has over 25 years of experience as a leader and market innovator in the asset management business. His extensive record of successfully developing and managing groundbreaking quantitative strategies, domestic and foreign, complements the Plain Sight science team with critical professional experience in applying its world-class technology to the financial markets. From 2006 through 2011, he was the Head of Quantitative Research for the US Equity Group at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Eric was the Head of Structured Equity and Systematic Research, managing a variety of strategies for Columbia Management Group. Prior to that, he was head of Structured Equity, globally, for Credit Suisse Asset Management. He joined the industry in 1984, working for Chancellor/LGT Asset Management as a quantitative analyst and rapidly moved into the role of head of quantitative equity as he grew the business. Dr. Stephen Leeb
Senior Managing Director, Board Member
Dr. Leeb is Senior Managing Director and Board Member of the PlainSight Group. At PlainSight, he is focused on the development of next generation quantitative tools for risk management and commodities. Steve is also a Board Member of Water Intelligence plc.
Dr. Leeb is currently Chairman of Leeb Capital Management, a New York-based money management firm, and the Leeb Group, a publisher of investment newsletters and services including The Complete Investor (general investing); Leeb's Real World Investing (commodities); and The Cash Cow (exchange-traded funds or ETFs)
Dr. Leeb is Head of the Advisory Board of Leor Exploration & Production LLC and a member of the advisory boards of Electrum USA Ltd. and Sunshine Silver Mines. Both companies explore for natural resources, especially precious metals and energy. In 2007 Leor sold assets to Canadian-based Encana Cp. for over $2.5 billion.
Dr. Leeb has written eight books on macroeconomic trends, finance and investment, including the New York Times business bestseller The Coming Economic Collapse: How You Can Thrive When Oil Costs $200 a Barrel. He is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business and has a doctorate from University of Illinois.
Dr. W. Michael Reisman
Dr. Reisman is a Board Member of Plain Sight and is responsible for governance and compensation matters. He is also a Board Member of Water Intelligence plc. Michael currently serves as Myres S. McDougal Professor of International Law at the Yale Law School, where he has been on the faculty since 1965. He has previously been a visiting professor in Tokyo, Berlin, Basel, Paris, Geneva and Hong Kong. Michael is a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science and a former member of its Executive Council. He is the President of the Arbitration Tribunal of the Bank for International Settlements and a member of the Advisory Committee on International Law of the Department of State.
Michael has published widely in the area of international law and served as arbitrator and counsel in many international cases. He was also President of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States, Vice-President and Honorary Vice-President of the American Society of International Law and Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of International Law. He has served as arbitrator in the Eritrea/Ethiopia Boundary Dispute and in the Abyei (Sudan) Boundary Dispute. Michael received his JSD from Yale.
David Ensor was global Chief Credit Officer of Chartis until 2012. David uses his significant expertise in risk management to help Plain Sight develop various trading applications. While at Chartis, David had responsibility for the control, approval and management of credit risk assumed by all Chartis business units in over 130 countries. David was also the global "Risk Expert" for credit risk within Chartis' Enterprise Risk Management Group. The credit portfolio risk exposure included Chartis' Invested Asset, Reinsurance, Life Settlements and Intermediary/Broker exposures; and encompassed all types of insurance-related credit risk (including political risk, surety and trade credit). David was also one of 10 members of AIG's global sovereign-rating committee. Prior to assuming his role as global Chief Credit Officer of Chartis in late 2009, David was responsible for all credit risk taken by any AIG company (over 50) in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
David is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London. He has over 30 years of international experience in the financial services industry, having worked in the UK, South Africa, Canada and the US for major firms such as Barclays, ANZ, General Re and AIG/Chartis. David read Law at St. John's College, Cambridge; and has a MA from the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Andreas Coppi
Vice President, Products
Dr. Coppi is Vice President, Products and is responsible for managing product and solutions development. He has significant experience integrating complex devices with advanced algorithms for real time integrated sensor processing. Dr. Coppi has led the development of PlainSight products for both Fortune 500 companies such as RadioShack (MP3 Fitness Player) and for PlainSight investments such as American Leak Detection (LeakVue). He also has significant project management experience on PlainSight defense contracts with companies such as LockheedMartin. Dr. Coppi holds a Ph. D. in Mathematics from Yale University, as well as undergraduate degrees in both Mathematics and Physics from MIT.
Dr. Frederick Warner
Vice President, Algorithm Development
Dr. Warner is Vice President, Algorithm Development and is responsible for developing diagnostic software tools for high dimensional data. Dr. Warner has 15 years experience in developing algorithms as well as in signal and image processing. Dr. Warner has been responsible for developing medical devices for BrainScope Company, Inc. and is currently developing financial analysis software tools for hedge fund applications. Dr. Warner holds a Ph. D. in Mathematics from Yale University and, while a research fellow at CUNY, was a National Science Foundation (NSF) University-Industry Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Warner is an instructor at Yale University where he teaches about data analysis.
